going to change to an 8 digit format over the course of the 2007 year. Obviously, this posed a challenge for us ! At that time we had just completed one year’s worth of work compiling and verifying data for over 100,000 companies and 10,000 ads for our directories – roughly 50% of this data being in the 02 area code. Moreover, we only had a few weeks to put all of this data together and prepare our directories for print in order to meet our distribution deadlines.

Hence, we investigated the telephone number changes and its four proposed phases to a great extent. Without the absolute certainty to know when and whether all area code 02 lines would change, we concluded that we simply could not take the risk and change all of our data to the eight digit format.

Therefore, we opted for a strategy which would produce the most accurate results. A strategy that would enable the end user to effectively reach companies listed in our directories. Whether or not the telephone number changes had taken place. This strategy is very clear on all directory covers, pages 1 &2 of all directories and on every ad page.
